The boer goat was developed in south Africa in the 1900's for meat production, producing an extremely hardy animal that was disease resistant and able to adapt well in their environments. 
Due to constant selective breeding and genetic improvement, the Boer goat has become one the most popular breeds of meat goat in the world. 
It is renowned for it's extremely strong motherly instincts; does have reproductive rates of 200%.
The more kids born per doe, the greater profit margins for the owner. Boer goats are polyestrous (they can breed throughout the year), they can reach sexual maturity at 5 months of age.
Boer goats are a very docile, easy to handle breed that have their own individual personalities that make them joy to be around.
